Jack Butland’s blushes were spared twice by VAR during Rangers’ Scottish Premiership match against Motherwell.
He allowed the ball to go straight in from a corner in the second half, however it was chalked off because of a foul. A decision that fairly irked the home supporters at Fir Park.
Rangers legend Neil McCann described the outcome on Sky Sports by saying, "I don't think it was a clear & obvious error by Kevin Clancy. You could probably argue the case for Tony Watt, but I did feel his left arm was across Jack Butland. Still, it's unconvincing."Rangers goalkeeper made a mess of his attempts to stop Motherwell scoring a third goal minute's later.
Then theThe experienced shot-stopper has been out of sorts in recent games. This time, he allowed Motherwell forward Tony Watt to fire in after the Rangers defence failed to clear their lines.
Referee Kevin Clancy awarded the goal. Yet, after a VAR check, the former Celtic youth star was denied his glory because teammate Dan Casey was in an offside position at the beginning of the move.
The officials were busy throughout the fixture with Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell being shown a red card also among the talking points.
