Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland has held "positive" discussions with Manchester United about joining the club on loan this month.
United are looking to recruit a back-up 'keeper after Martin Dubravka was recalled by Newcastle on Sunday and Butland, 29, is second-choice at Palace.
Butland started against United in their pre-season win over Palace in Melbourne in July but he was forced off injured.

The England-capped goalie has not played all season, having made 15 appearances for Palace last term. Vicente Guaita remains the No.1 at Selhurst Park.
Tom Heaton, 36, has been reinstalled as United's No.2 but their third-choice is Nathan Bishop, a £1.5million signing from Southend United three years ago who is yet to make his debut.
United have settled on having three experienced 'keepers since Lee Grant joined the club in 2018 and the highest level Bishop has played at is League One.
Butland won nine England caps between 2012 and 2018, when he was named in their World Cup squad by manager Gareth Southgate.
The former Stoke 'keeper joined Palace in 2020 but he has only played 17 times.
