Former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, is set to release a memoir titled 'A Different Kind of Power' on June 3. The memoir, published by Crown, a division of Penguin Random House, will delve into Ardern's experiences and decisions during her time in office.

Ardern, who was elected at the age of 37 in 2017, gained international recognition for her compassionate leadership, particularly in response to the 2019 terrorist attacks in Christchurch and the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, Ardern emphasized the importance of kindness as a guiding principle in her leadership, stating that kindness possesses a unique power to bring about positive change and transformation.

After facing challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic and a decline in popularity due to her stringent policies, Ardern surprised many by announcing her resignation in early 2023, citing exhaustion as a key factor in her decision.

Following her resignation, Ardern was honored with the title of Dame Grand Companion, the second-highest honor in New Zealand, as part of King Charles III’s Birthday Honors. She then revealed her plans to work on a book focused on leadership rather than internal politics.

Crown describes Ardern's upcoming memoir as a 'deeply personal and inspiring' account of her journey from a determined girl in a small New Zealand town to a groundbreaking world leader who made history as the world's youngest female head of government and the second leader to give birth while in office.

The book promises to offer readers a candid look at the pivotal moments that shaped Ardern's leadership, including the details surrounding her decision to step down as Prime Minister after six years in office.
