With Memphis Grizzlies continuing to watch Ja Morant ascend into superstar status, they might every now and again see him actually take flight.
That’s exactly what Morant did against the Brooklyn Nets during a game Monday night. After a Grizzlies steal, Tyus Jones was able to take the ball down court and hit Morant with a beautiful feed while the Murray State alum was in motion.
What Morant did next is more proof of his undeniable talent. He caught the pass mid-air and slammed it in the hoop for two. If you’ve seen Michael Jordan’s final basket in Space Jam, it’s in the same ballpark of stretch value.

Ja, you are clear for takeoff. Seriously, though, how do you defend that?
The ability to make a dunk like that while in the air makes Morant one of the game’s electric talents. It’s just not fair how good he is when he’s on.
Moments like this cement Morant and the Grizzlies as a real threat in the Western Conference, and keep Morant in any discussions about possible MVPs by season’s end. He’s just too phenomenal to deny.
