Ja’Marr Chase was trying to get fined on his game-winning TD

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was trying to get a letter from the NFL over his post-touchdown celebration in New Orleans against the Saints.

But Chase whiffed.

Chase scored the game-winning touchdown against the Saints late in the fourth quarter, then was seen trying to kick the football itself, to no avail.

After the game, Chase admitted to ESPN’s Ben Baby that he was trying to punt the ball into the stands, undoubtedly earning a fine letter from the NFL.

Both Chase and Joe Burrow had admitted that returning to the site of the 2019 national title triumph (and Chase’s home stomping grounds) was an emotionally charged thing.

In front of that home crowd, Chase finished with seven catches for 132 yards and two scores while likely avoiding a fine, too.
