Ja’Marr Chase has proven himself as one of the preeminent NFL wide receivers in only two seasons.
A major catalyst for his success points to the remarkable play of his Bengals quarterback, Joe Burrow, who has connected on 22 touchdown passes with Chase in 28 games.
With strong production between the duo, the two-time Pro Bowler explicitly stated that Burrow was the best quarterback in the league. However, when Chase was told that Burrow recently picked Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes as the league’s best signal caller, the 23-year-old shared the perfect response to the question.
“Pat who?” Chase laughed in reference to Mahomes.
It is not surprising that Chase chose his quarterback and friend. The Burrow-Chase connection originates from LSU’s superb 2019 national championship season when the two were college teammates. Since joining the league and beyond earning Pro Bowl nods, the ’21 Rookie of the Year also set a single-season record for receiving yards during his first season.

Unlike Chase, Burrow believes Mahomes should hold the crown of the league’s most elite quarterback.
“I don’t think there’s any argument right now,” Burrow told reporters on Tuesday. “It’s Pat [Mahomes] until somebody has a better year than he’s had. He’s the one to knock off.”
Kansas City defeated Cincinnati in last season’s AFC Championship game before Mahomes went on to lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl LVII victory against the Eagles. He also won Super Bowl MVP as well as the NFL’s MVP award.
