Ja’Marr Chase ‘hold-in’ features him helping along Bengals rookie Jermaine Burton

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase might not be fully practicing with the team right now during what can be described as a “hold-in” while he awaits a new contract.

But that hasn’t stopped him from helping — especially when it comes to rookie wideout Jermaine Burton.

Burton told Fox 19’s Jeremy Rauch that Chase, along with Tee Higgins, has helped him with the fine details often.

An offer for Bengals fans

“It’s kind of been a good thing that Ja’Marr has been able to sit out and watch me,” Burton said. “I feel like if he was practicing he wouldn’t be able to see everything, all my flaws or anything that he wants to correct…He’ll come to me after every other rep and say this and that, it’s pretty dope.”

So, not only is the hyped third-round pick getting more reps than he might usually see, he’s got one of the best receivers in the game overseeing nearly every one of them before offering pointers.

Burton always had a chance to sneak into some serious snap counts as a rookie because he can play in the slot or outside. But the fact he’s benefitting from a major silver lining of the Chase situation would only appear to up the chances he can have a big impact on the offense.

Chase has been at every practice and involved, but he has not technically participated in the practices themselves so far. That figures to change at some point this summer, but for now, the situation certainly helps a key member of this year’s draft class.
