Spider-Man veteran J.K. Simmons recently made a surprising revelation that he has never met Tom Holland in person, despite both actors appearing in the same Spider-Man movies. Simmons, known for his role as J. Jonah Jameson in the Spider-Man franchise, disclosed in an interview that he has not crossed paths with the MCU's Spider-Man, even during premieres of the films.
Simmons, who is currently voicing Omni-Man in Season 2 of Invincible, has appeared in over 200 movies and TV shows but remains most recognized for his portrayal in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films. He made a comeback as Jameson in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home and reprised the role in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Despite the surprise factor for many in the industry and fans, Simmons explained that he only shared the screen with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man in the earlier films, hence the lack of interaction with Tom Holland's version. The logistics of the characters' ages and the filming conditions during the pandemic also played a role in the limited on-screen interactions.
While Simmons expressed his fondness for the original Spider-Man trilogy, he also praised the newer films and the direction taken by the current team. He acknowledged the efforts to keep the essence of Spider-Man intact while bringing fresh elements to the character.
As for Holland's future in the MCU, details remain undisclosed, but it is highly anticipated that he will return as Peter Parker in future installments.
