J&K: Top LeT commander among 3 terrorists killed in separate encounters in Kashmir

Srinagar: Security forces on Saturday gunned down three terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, in two separate encounters in Kashmir, officials said. 

Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and two cops were injured in the exchange of gunfire in the Khanyar area in Srinagar while one terrorist has been neutralized. 

Injured admitted to Army's Hospital

The injured were taken to the Army's 92 Base Hospital and their condition is stated to be stable.

The encounter broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area after receiveing a tip-off about the presence of terrorists. 

One LeT commander killed 

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir V K Birdi said one foreign terrorist was killed in Srinagar encounter. 

The slain terrorist has been identified as Usman Lashkari alias Chota Waleed. He was Pakistani and belonged to the LeT.

Usman was also involved in the killing of Inspector Masroor Wani in October 2023. 

Anantnag encounter 

In a separate encounter, two terrorists were killed by the security forces near Halkan Gali in the Shangus-Larnoo area in Anantnag district. 

According to the Army, the operation was launched in Anantnag on a specific input. The operation is still underway. (With Agency Inputs)
