J.J. Watt’s wholesome pic with ex-Texans pal DeMeco Ryans had fans thinking he was Houston’s new coach

The Houston Texans are currently in the process of searching for the franchise’s sixth full-time head coach (and fourth in as many years). Nothing has been made official yet, but Texans legend J.J. Watt may have dropped a hint on Twitter about which direction the franchise will head in.

On Monday, Watt — who spent 10 seasons in Houston and retired following the 2022 season — posted a picture of himself and former Texans teammate DeMeco Ryans, the current defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.

Ryans emerged as a leading candidate to replace Lovie Smith this weekend, with several reports indicating he’s expected to become Houston’s head coach.

Ryans is now available after the 49ers’ 31-7 loss in the NFC Championship Game loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and fans ran with Watt’s tweet.
