After agreeing to terms on a massive contract worth $82 million, J.C. Jackson said what everyone is thinking about the Los Angeles Chargers.
“That’s a stacked group, and imagine me [there]… It’s going to be scary,” Jackson told NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry on Monday.
Jackson is an unrestricted free agent, and will sign his contract with his new team on Wednesday when the NFL makes these new deals official. The start cornerback, who made the Pro Bowl in 2021, spent four seasons with the New England Patriots, who clearly felt they couldn’t retain him at that cost: $16.5 million per year over five years.
That created an opportunity for L.A., which traded for outside linebacker Khalil Mack earlier this offseason.
“Love LA,” Jackson told Perry. “Love Cali. Not only that, the defense, I think I can add some value to that defense.”

Jackson recorded eight interceptions in 2021 and 25 in his first four seasons, which tied an NFL record. He will immediately jump into the Chargers secondary where he’ll be CB1 alongside Chris Harris and Asante Samuel Jr.
