Izzy Christiansen on 'intelligent' new boss Brian Sorensen and why we haven't seen best of Everton

I’m really looking forward to getting back at Walton Hall Park after the international break. It’s going to be our intention to finish the season as strongly as we can and set ourselves up to be much better than we have been next season.

Obviously maximum points is a target but we also just want to make sure that we increase our performance level and give ourselves something to get stuck into, so that we can begin pre-season really well. Look, playing against the big teams is always a challenge and it’s something which we haven’t been able to break lately, with regards to taking points off the top teams.

It’s something we still want to do, it’s in our ambitions to do so and I’m really looking forward to Sunday. We’ve identified weaknesses in the Arsenal team and we’ll be looking to exploit them. Personally, I’m really looking forward to the challenge. I love playing against the big teams and we’re hoping to disrupt their rhythm.

HAVE YOUR SAY: Will Everton avoid relegation? Predict the final Premier League table

I think playing on a Sunday evening is a bit unique but I’m really looking forward to getting out there and getting back on our home turf, knowing that our fans are going to have a big game to look forward to. So I’d encourage people - perhaps if they’re going to Anfield for the derby - to come over to Walton Hall Park after that game and support the women as well. It’d be great to see as many Evertonians as possible at our fixture.

It’s also been really good to meet our future manager Brian Sorensen and have his appointment confirmed. The squad are in good spirits and we’re really looking forward to finishing the season strongly and setting up some foundations for next season, so we’re already looking ahead.

He’s been over observing training for a couple of days and it’s been really good to have his presence around the team. What I’m feeling so far is that he’s an intelligent person, really engrossed in football, and I could feel his passion for the game coming through after a short meeting with him. I’m excited to see what he can do with this team.

I’ve said it all season, that we’ve got heaps of talent, we just haven’t perhaps been using it correctly. So I think we as players are really looking forward to buying into his culture and his working style and we look forward to seeing how we can get on next season.
