Ivanka's message of support as Donald Trump's family blast guilty verdict

Donald Trump's eldest sons immediately denounced their father's historic conviction after he was guilty on all 34 charges in his porn star hush money trial.

“Such bullshit,” Donald Trump Jr posted on X moments after his father became the first former US president to be criminally convicted on Thursday before he began criticising the verdict and claiming the trial was an attempt to interfere with the 2024 election.

Trump has been found to have falsified business records to conceal payments over an alleged affair with the porn star Stormy Daniels.

He faces sentencing on July 11 - four days before the start of the Republican National Convention where he will be formally adopted as the party’s candidate for president.

Eric Trump was the only family member present in the courtroom on Thursday, according to reports.

The former President’s middle son wrote on X that May 30 “might be remembered as the day Donald J. Trump won the 2024 Presidential Election”.

A few hours after the verdict was released, Ivanka Trump posted a photo of her as a child sitting on her father's lap on her Instagram story with the brief message: “I love you dad”.

The rest of Trump's family members remained silent on social media, but some were also present near the Manhattan Criminal Court.

Trump Jr, Eric Trump, and his wife and Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, provided statements to the press near the courthouse condemning the verdict.

"This was never a case about prosecuting an actual crime," Lara Trump told reporters. "This is a case about politics, pure and simple."

The historic case is the first time a former US President faced potential jail time in a court case, though it is unlikely he will end up behind bars, despite the guilty verdicts.

As a first-time offender for a nonviolent crime Trump is more likely to face a fine or be put on probation.

The case revolved around a $130,000 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels who said it was in exchange for not going public with her claim about a 2006 sexual encounter with the real estate tycoon.

Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records at his company in connection with the alleged scheme to hide potentially embarrassing stories about him during his 2016 presidential election campaign.
