Ivana Trump has died at the age of 73. The ex-wife of former US president Donald Trump has passed away.
He paid tribute to her in a social media post, describing his former partner as "a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman".
He wrote: “I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City.
“She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life.”
He added: “Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
In statement to ABC news, the family made a statement, saying: "Our mother was an incredible woman - a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend," the Trump family said in a statement.
"Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination," the family said. "She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren."
Paramedics rushed to reports of a woman in cardiac arrest in Manhattan and found a 73-year-old woman in the Upper East Side apartment where Ivana Trump lived just after 12.30pm on Thursday, the New York City Fire Department said.
Ivana was Trump's first wife and the pair married in 1977. The pair shared three children together, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric Trump but they divorced in 1992.
Ivana worked in Trump's business empire as a senior executive for years and was appointed CEO of Trump's Castle in Atlantic City.
She helped design interiors for the Grand Hyatt Hotel and Trump Tower and, after their divorce, authored multiple bestselling books and created her own clothing line.
She also became an icon in her own right, dripping with ’80s style and elegance, complete with accent and her signature beehive hairdo.
Ivana went on to find love with Italian actor Rossano Rubicondi. They had dated for six years before they tied the knot in 2008 – when he was 36 and she was 59.
While Ivana and Rossano’s marriage was short lived – the pair divorced in 2009 after just one year – it was not the end of their romance.
They continued to enjoy an on-off relationship until 2019 – at which point Ivana declared they had “called it quits”.
