Ivan Perisic will seek Luka Modric contact after Tottenham arrival

Ivan Perisic has revealed he will be in contact with Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar after signing for Tottenham.

The 33-year-old became Antonio Conte’s first summer signing last week, penning a two-year contract after leaving Inter Milan, where he won the Serie A title with the Spurs boss in 2021.

Conte was convinced to stay at the club following assurances from both chairman Daniel Levy and sporting director Fabio Paratici over this summer’s transfer policy.

Having broken their model and moved for a player with little in the way of sell-on value, Perisic looks like something of an early win for Conte on that front, given Tottenham’s tendency to shop in younger markets.

The Croatian follows a number of international team-mates to north London with Modric, Corluka, Kranjcar and goalkeeper Stipe Pleitkosa having represented Spurs.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Perisic said: “I’ve known them (Luka, Vedran, Stipe, Niko) since I was a kid. Then later, I played with them in the national team. ‘Charlie’ (Vedran’s nickname) is also my national team coach now.

“Luka just won his fifth Champions League with Real Madrid. Niko is also a coach in the national team and Stipe is doing some jobs around the national team. I have a lot of contact with them and now I’m going to ask them more about the Club, the city and I’m sure they’ll help me.”
