Ivan Perisic starts pre-season training at Hotspur Way after Tottenham transfer from Inter Milan

Ivan Perisic started his pre-season training at Hotspur Way on Friday following his summer transfer to Tottenham from Inter Milan. Spurs have so far made four summer additions ahead of the 2022/23 season, with the experienced Croatian international the first to sign on the dotted line after completing a free transfer from the Italian giants.

A player Antonio Conte knows extremely well after working with him at the San Siro, Perisic will compete for the left wing-back spot but he gives the head coach other options as he can also operate further forward. With Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga and Matt Doherty returning to the club's base at the start of the week for training following the injuries that saw them miss games in the second part of last term, Spurs' non-international players and internationals return at different stages next week.

With Perisic among the non-international players having not represented Croatia over the summer after picking up a calf injury in Inter Milan's final game of the Serie A season, the 33-year-old was present at Hotspur Way on Friday. The summer addition uploaded a photo of himself in the Tottenham dressing room to his Instagram stories and it featured the words 'first training' next to a green tick emoji and a smiley face.

football.london understands that Perisic was doing work inside at Hotspur Way following his injury in order to get a head start on the pre-season work. Tottenham's non-international players are due to be back from Monday next week, with the players who played international football over the summer back for the Saturday, July 9 departure date for the South Korea tour.

Providing of course that he is fully fit after his recent injury, Perisic will be hoping to take to the pitch against Team K League and Sevilla on the tour of South Korea. Further games against Rangers and Roma are on the calendar ahead of the new Premier League season commencing.

Speaking about his move to Tottenham, Perisic told Spurs TV: "I'm really excited to start with the Spurs family. It's going to be my home for the next two years. When I got in contact with the coach and the Sporting Director [Fabio Paratici], I told them that I really wanted to come here in the Premier League, since 2009 when I started to play professional football in Belgium. This is the moment and I can't wait."
