Ivan Perisic's classy touch as Joe Rodon gives him his Tottenham shirt number for new season

Ivan Perisic has been confirmed as Tottenham's new No.14 ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. Inheriting the jersey off Joe Rodon, football.london understands that the new signing personally phoned the Welshman to request the shirt number which he has worn throughout his career, something the Spurs centre-back was more than happy to do for the new man.

Rodon will now wear No.22 for Tottenham, a number he wore during his days at Swansea City. Tottenham had revealed last Wednesday that Perisic would play in No.22 for their pre-season fixtures but stressed that it may not be representative of the finalised squad numbers for the season.

As well as confirming Perisic's shirt number, Tottenham have also announced numbers for fellow new signings Djed Spence and Clement Lenglet. Having finally joined from Middlesbrough on Tuesday morning, Spence will take on the No.24 shirt at Spurs, with Lenglet the club's new No.34.

As previously announced by Tottenham, Yves Bissouma will wear No.38 during the club's pre-season fixtures but, as was the case with Perisic, this may not be representative of his finalised squad number. Wearing No.8 for Brighton & Hove Albion previously, this number will become available if Harry Winks departs the club this summer.

New signings Richarlison and Fraser Forster will wear No.9 and No.20 respectively, with Pape Matar Sarr No.29 after returning from his season on loan at Metz. The Senegal international's number was left free after Oliver Skipp became Tottenham's new No.4 after Cristian Romero vacated the jersey for his favored No.17.

Following the new update from the club, they have again made it clear that other squad numbers for existing players remain subject to change, with the full finalised list to be confirmed when they submit their final squad list to the Premier League prior to the opening weekend of the season.
