ITV Trigger Point viewers say new series has already been 'ruined'

ITV's newest drama Trigger Point has been accused of being "ruined" as it has just begun.

Many viewers had high hopes for the new six-part drama, with it coming from Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio, and featuring Kate Fleming actress Vicky McClure.

The thriller series, which also stars Adrian Lester, turns the spotlight on counter terrorism policing and the work of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad.

Episode one saw explosives officers Lana Washington (McClure) and Joel Nutkins (Lester) called out to investigate a potential bomb factory in a London housing estate - but there's no sign of the bomb makers, the Manchester Evening News reports.

They faced multiple potential explosives before a shock ending, but we won't reveal any spoilers.

But those tuning in to Trigger Point found there was a major issue, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

fruitdance said: "The adverts are killing any attempt of tension. I'm waiting for flat 1912 to explode or whatever that number was #TriggerPoint"

SvenJacobbsen said: "Difficult to hold any suspense when we get a load of adverts every ten minutes #TriggerPoint."

jamiedrmc said: "These adverts are really ruining the tension in this #TriggerPoint."

TNYKN said: "Adverts are an absolute tension killer, Cheers ITV #TriggerPoint"

And the argument around the BBC licence fee was also brought into it.

windy___miller said: "#TriggerPoint is the perfect justification for the licence fee. Imagine adverts popping up in Line of Duty every 10 minutes to spoil the suspense."

steve_nolan1 said: "See this is why I’m happy to pay the BBC licence fee. Nothing like a tension builder being ruined by adverts every five minutes"

Trigger Point airs Sundays at 9pm on ITV and the ITV Hub.
