ITV Trigger Point fans spot repeated blunder in new Vicky McClure drama

Trigger Point viewers were left reeling after spotting a huge blunder with the ITV drama, starring Vicky McClure.

The Line Of Duty actress stars in the Jed Mercurio penned new drama for ITV, where she plays bomb disposal officer Lana Washington, who alongside her colleagues is tasked with helping to bring down a terrorist campaign that is threatening London.

Tensions rose during the final few minutes of tonight's effort as Lana had less than two minutes to diffuse a nail bomb, which was hung on a door with someone chained behind it.

However, fans kept being distracted by a huge blunder made by Lana every time she was tasked with diffusing a bomb.

Taking to Twitter, one fan fumed as they wrote: "Why does she keep taking her helmet off surely that’s one thing no bomb disposal unit would ever do #triggerpoint."

"Here we go , looks like a bomb I’ll just pop my helmet off and have a closer look #TriggerPoint," a second added, as a third penned: "Why do they walk in with mask & goggles and take them off as soon as they are in front of the bomb? #triggerpoint "

A fourth wrote: "I don’t understand why she puts on all her gear, just to take it off as soon as she’s staring at a bomb #triggerpoint."

"I know she’s just doing the job but it’s stressing me out she keeps taking her hat off #triggerpoint," a fifth added.

It comes after Vicky admitted she is glad she has fallen into playing more masculine characters.

"That's the kind of roles I love. I've sort of fallen into this genre. If I read a script, I often want to play the male's role because that is the strong, committed role," she said, "I can't worry about taking roles that might feel like they're in a similar vein."

And whilst she loves every part of her role in the new ITV drama, she insists she wouldn't be cut out for a job like that in real life.

Asked if she'd ever have the nerve to be a bomb disposal officer, she added: "I’m definitely not cut out for that. I’m scared to cross the road sometimes! I just don’t have that. People might think I’m hard, I’m not."

*Trigger Point returns to screens next Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
