ITV Tipping Point viewers 'switch off' after contestant's answer to question

Tipping Point viewers were in disbelief after a contestant's response on today's show.

Ben Shephard welcomed four new players on Tuesday's edition of the ITV programme. Joe, Anne, Phil and Claire were testing their wits against each-other to win big money from the arcade-style machine.

Joe is a student teacher from Bristol and put in an impressive performance to progress to the final two. However, fans were in disbelief at an answer he gave as he built up coins to input into the machine.

Ben asked: "The gold-finch belongs to which class of winged animal?" Joe shot back "fish", which left viewers following the show on Twitter in hysterics.

@Newcastlenut said: "My timing is impeccable! Switched on tipping point for the first time in a month, instantly confronted with “which family of winged animal does a goldfinch belong?” … fishes!! Instantly switches tv off"

Tasha posted: "What winged animal?" FISH!!!!!! NAHHHHHH"

Michael commented : "fish? Really though?... Really?"

Craig tweeted: "Fish. I love that answer"

Ben was in stitches later on in the programme when he asked Joe: "The Three US states that begin and end in the letter A are Alabama, Alaska and which other?" Joe deliberated before answering "Florida" as Ben erupted in hysterics.

He joked: "You went for it and you were spectacularly wrong."

Joe was eliminated by Anne after he built up £850 and Ben said the contestant had left a lasting impression on the show and would be "remembered for a very long time".

Tipping Point airs at 4pm each weekday on ITV and ITV Hub
