ITV This Morning viewers want their 'queen' Alison Hammond as the show's permanent presenter

WalesOnline readers have reacted to the news that Alison Hammond is gaining support to become the main, full-time presenter of This Morning.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield haven't actually set foot in the This Morning studio since the start of December (all shows they appeared in over Christmas were pre-recorded) but will be returning soon. Their absence has given Alison Hammond a chance to spend more time in the hot seat beyond her usual Friday slot with Dermot O'Leary.

And there have been plenty of calls on social media for her to be given the gig permanently, with some describing her as their "queen". But it turns out, people in Wales are not quite so sure. WalesOnline asked people what they thought on our Facebook page and it was fair to say the results were mixed, though most people didn't seem too keen on the idea.

Mark Smith said: "No, she's too loud, never listens to guests, then asks a question and they've just told her. The worst bit is when she says, 'we'll be back after these messages' - going into a commercial break!!!!!"

Daisy Dee wrote on WalesOnline's Facebook: "Alison and Dermot do not listen to their guest, they talk over them, especially Dermot" (Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock)

Lloyd Wright agreed about how loud she talked, saying: "Lovely woman but a bit loud for early morning, people are not that awake yet." While Debbie Fear simply said: "Oh please no!!!"

Others were more keen. Mami Ci wrote "I do love her!" whereas Karina Collier added: "Yes please, she's a bundle of joy" and another said: "Queen Alison's highlight was when she jumped through the table in the Big Brother house."

But Karen Joseph said she was no longer enjoying the same old faces, saying: "100% love Alison Hammond, getting sick of Holly and Phil."

Sharon Smith Lees, by contrast, wanted a full clear-out adding: "Why can't these programs not invest in new talent? Why do we have to have the same boring people?" Whereas Lynette Davies said: "They need to get rid of them all and start again."
