This Morning viewers have slammed the show over airing an interview with a man while he's on his compost toilet. Many took to Twitter to react to the guest's interesting choice of location during today's (May 31) episode, with some branding the segment a "new low" for the ITV programme.
It comes just days after Phillip Schofield stepped down from his hosting duties after 20 years of presenting the show. His last day on This Morning was on May 18, with news of his exit emerging on May 20 - followed by him confessing to have had an "unwise, but not illegal" affair with a younger colleague.
Since Phil's departure, with Holly Willoughby away on an extended half-term break, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary have been fronting the show. As the duo fronted the programme for today's instalment, some viewers were left grabbing their TV remote to 'press mute' as they spoke to guest Robin Greenfield, 36, via live video feed - which looked as if he was sitting on a toilet.

Explaining how the average person will spend about $11,000 (around £8,700) on toilet paper during their lifetime, Robin - who hasn't used toilet paper in 10 years - said: "I did the math, that’s two months of your working life, and I just said at that time, I’m not wiping my butt with my money anymore.
"It took me a while, at first I just used napkins that people were throwing away, they haven’t been used but people are throwing them away. But after five years, a friend introduced me to a toilet paper plant, he gave me a cutting and within a year I had a toilet paper plant that was… growing enough leaves for I would say a family of five."
The North Carolina resident added: “I’m this guy that wipes my butt with leaves, and a lot of people think, 'Oh man, this guy’s crazy, he’s wiping his butt with leaves', and it wasn’t until me, doing this campaign for a while, realised 'wait a sec, everybody who is wiping their butt with toilet paper is wiping their butt with leaves too'.
"The difference is they have an industry between them that uses a lot of fossil fuels and water, and causes destruction to create these… I just cut out the middle man. This is a big funny thing, but really it’s incredibly serious… really what I’m here to do is to create critical thinking."
Alison responded by saying: "I absolutely love this. I think it’s such a good idea." However, many viewers blasted the show for the segment.
JohannaWhite tweeted: “#Thismorning reaches a new LOW having Hammond and O’Leary talking sh**." Berniebernie64 demanded: “This morning reduced to 'I’ve ditched toilet paper for leaves', FFS, take it off air."
DebsGlynm typed: "They would rather talk about loo roll for 20 minutes than discuss the elephant in the room, it’s laughable." Pinkmonkeygin wrote: "20 min in and still talking loo-roll! Poor Alison & Dermot trying to hold the fort. No guests today. This programme is finished."
Gizmoismycat penned: "I’ve ditched my toilet roll for leaves Well This Morning.. you certainly have gone down the toilet." QueenBiddie said: "Must admit I switched to silent. Couldn’t listen to it."
