Regular This Morning viewers might be surprised to see that This Morning isn't on ITV today.
The programme, usually hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, airs on weekdays from 10am to 12.30pm. But on Tuesday (October 25), it was nowhere to be seen on the schedule.
Instead, it's been replaced by an ITV news special covering Liz Truss' official resignation as Rishi Sunak becomes the next Tory party leader - and Prime Minister. Mr Sunak is to become the UK's youngest Prime Minister in more than 200 years.
He will replace Ms Truss, the country's shortest-serving Prime Minister, who quit after just six weeks of running the country. Ms Truss announced her resignation outside Downing Street on Thursday (October 20) after weeks of chaos in government.
Taking to Twitter, This Morning posted a photo of an empty sofa and updated viewers on the show's absence. The Tweet said: "#ThisMorning will be off-air today due to ITV’s news coverage of the new Prime Minister, but we’ll be back tomorrow from 10am!"
Viewer's weren't too happy about it. Twitter user @hilsofhove said: "That’s ridiculous!" with an angry face, while @Joshpeterchrist questioned: "How many Channels do @ITV have why is it always itv 1 who's programs are pulled ridiculous."
"Was looking forward to seeing the show today. Disappointed," penned @jcombe2, as @m0a0r0y00 added: "Fuming."
The rest of ITV's schedule appears unaffected, however, with Loose Women set to air as normal at 12:30pm, followed by gameshows Riddiculous, Tipping Point, and The Chase from 3pm.
