ITV This Morning viewers disgruntled by 'horrific screaming' as Alison Hammond enjoys on-screen reunion

This Morning viewers were left split once again as Alison Hammond was treated to a surprise on This Morning - just weeks after she had a 20th-anniversary special sprung on her live on ITV daytime show. At the end of last month, the presenter celebrated two decades on the popular programme.

While Alison thought she was heading out for a game of Dosh on Your Doorstep, which usually sees the likes of Alison or co-star Josie Gibson show up at a viewer's house and make them answer questions in order to win a cash prize, she was instead greeted at the random home by her Big Brother pal Kate Lawler and This Morning co-star and friend Josie Gibson.

The 47-year-old TV star appeared gobsmacked before the trio screamed about what was happening. They then bundled into a car where they whisked Alison off to another venue where Josie pulled out her own big red book for her own 'This is Your Life' styled surprise with surprise guests and a mini live audience of people who wanted to help Alison celebrate her two decades on the show.

But during Thursday's edition of This Morning (October 13), Alison got a very different surprise. The TV star, who usually the popular programme on a Friday with the former X Factor host, made an early return to the show and it wasn't to host or chat with another showbiz star, but to be interviewed herself ahead of her 'Best Presenter' nomination at the National Television Awards which takes place on Thursday night.

After viewers were treated to some of Alison’s funniest moments over her 20 years on the show, the 47-year-old admitted to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield over her awards nod: "I’ve got that imposter syndrome…I’m seeing it from the outside thinking ‘is this really real?’. I’ve been to that award's ceremony so many times and I’m alright sitting in the background and letting other people take the limelight."

Phillip, 60, soon asked Alison about her partnership with Dermot and she was quick to gush over her co-presenter. "Dermot came to my house the other day and I just love him so much," the mum-of-one gushed. "He is my partner in crime. I just think he’s amazing. He came down and I cooked him some chicken, rice and peas and he said it was the best dinner he’s ever had!"

After discussing her Hollywood favourites, Alison also recalled a favourite ‘Dosh on your Doorstep’ winner who was so excited to win and see Alison but had to hug a cardboard cut out of her instead due to the Covid restrictions in place at the time. But Phillip and Holly were able to reunite her with the former winner Hamsetu so they could finally hug.

Entering the studio, Hamsetu screamed: "Oh my God, Oh my God…I can’t believe I’m here!" before jumping between Alison and Holly and Phillip for hugs. Holly then tried to calm their guest down and asked her if she made it to New York to visit her family after revealing that'd be how she spent her winnings. Hamsetu confirmed the money allowed her to fly to the Big Apple, replying: "I did and it was lovely."

But some This Morning viewers weren't happy with the level of noise during the happy reunion. @JulianSpoons tweeted: "Horrific screaming, what a mess ITV . #ThisMorning." @Sparkle10091250 fumed: "@AlisonHammond omg the woman screeching is too much #ThisMorning." @Kajay60 complained: "#ThisMorning good god, what a load of drivel and annoying screaming. Just switched over. #alisonhammond."

Others, however, definitely didn't agree. @Phoenix52000 said: "#ThisMorning God I needed #Hamsetu today! What a beautiful soul."@ChantalMascoe commented: "#ThisMorning I love that lady though she's hilarious." @liamandrews123 posted: "Hamzetu just screaming has me creasing #thismorning."
