ITV This Morning viewers have complained after Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield announced a change to the programme ahead of Christmas.
The pair took to the air on Friday morning (December 9), hosting a jam-packed show which saw Holly discuss the moment she tumbled over during the recording of Celebrity Juice's final every episode. The presenter, 41, was wrestling for a piece of cardboard in order to win a task on the panel show, when she tripped and fell down the steep studio stairs.
Addressing the incident on This Morning, Holly told viewers: "The stairs were quite steep and everybody had a little panic as you could see. But weirdly, I was fine! And I hadn't had a drink, either!"
Phil added: "You risked broken bones at Christmas, missing the last shows here, everything because you wouldn't let go of a bit of cardboard!"
Usually, duo Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary would host the flagship ITV show on a Friday, but Holly and Phil took to the air instead. It's because the programme was their final one before they take a break for Christmas.
Taking to social media ahead Friday's programme, Phil posted a photo of an early morning glass of port to his Instagram story. He captioned it: "Last day for the @thismorning make-up room therapy gang. Port at 8am."
The show regularly rotates its presenters during major holidays in the UK as Alison and Dermot have assumed the main presenter role at Easter and during the summer. But viewers weren't happy about Holly and Phil taking their Christmas break so soon.
@Brekkietweets tweeted: "I'm not saying Holly and Phil go on their Christmas break earlier and earlier every year but I'm not sure if they've finished up today for Christmas 2022 or Christmas 2023. #ThisMorning" as @donnaelaine17 "added: #ThisMorning more holidays for Holly and Phil. They really have it easy …….. time the show and it’s presenters had a thorough review!!"
@aaronleemitchel said: "Phil and Holly are finishing for Christmas already?! At this rate they’ll be finishing at hallowe’en in a few years. #ThisMorning".
