ITV This Morning viewers complain and 'switch off' moments into show that isn't all at Buckingham Palace

This Morning viewers were left complaining moments into the latest edition of the show. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were missing from the show as Lorraine Kelly crossed live from her show to the ITV studio to find out what coming up on the daytime programme.

Instead, Friday host Alison Hammond was on hand to fill the presenter in on what was going on. "Holly and Phil are at Buckingham Palace this morning by royal command so Alison is holding the fort," Lorraine told viewers.

"I am, Lorraine. I'm holding the fort for Phil and Holly as they go on a very special royal visit to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. They are going to be joining you live from Buckingham Palace," As an aerial view of Her Majesty's residence was flashed on the screen, Alison remarked; "Look at that!"

She then revealed how horticultural expert David Domoney will explore the Queen’s favourite corners of her garden, chef Phil Vickery will head into the Palace's kitchen and Gok Wan will take a look back at the Queen's iconic style choices. "What more do you want? See you soon!" Alison said before Lorraine wrapped up her self-titled show.

After heading to a break, This Morning returned with a revamped set of titles featuring the theme tune being played by a royal band. "This Morning by royal appointment," a message read on screen before the latter part of the message changed to "from Buckingham Palace."

Viewers could then see a white taxi making its way through the gates and into the grounds of the London landmark. "Well, we've made some entrances in our time but this has got to be one of the most special I would have thought," Phillip was heard saying as Holly laughed. She then added: "This is ridiculous! When you think of the people who have driven round in vehicles up to this grand entrance..."

Phillip, 60, then gave a brief history lesson on the entrance, which has been decked out with a red carpet, before joking; "All got out of their cars, not necessarily cabs..." Holly, 41, then let out a gasp as she stepped out of the car in a floral, pale yellow dress while her co-host looked dapper in a black suit.

The hosting duo then welcomed viewers to the show as they made their way up the steps into the Palace. "For the next hour we are joining you from inside Her Majesty's magnificent London home," Phillip said. "I did it. We've just walked through the front entrance, it's incredible."

But This Morning viewers were quick to take to social media to chat about the change of scenery and they also appeared confused as to why Alison was needed after the show teased that the entire show would be live from the Palace.

@demelcy said: "Looks like I might give today as miss.
