This Morning viewers took to social media to share the same question as they watched Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield who interviewed a woman who went ahead with her wedding day despite being jilted by her husband-to-be.
Kayley Stead, 27, discovered she wasn't going to marry her partner of almost four years the morning of her big day. Despite her devastation, Kayley decided to go ahead with the event with the support of her loved ones on September 15 in Gower, Swansea.
She still had her grand wedding entrance, went ahead with the meal, speeches, dances and even posed for professional photos without her groom. Kayley let out some of her frustrations when she punched off the top tier of her wedding cake, and spent the usually romantic first dance with the groomsmen, her brothers, and dad Brian, 71.
Appearing on the ITV daytime show, Kayley re-donned her wedding dress to chat to Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, alongside her sister and best friend who also both got back into their pale blue bridesmaid dresses for their TV appearance.
And while Kayley looked stunning in her lacy gown, which featured a sparkling silver belt effect around the waist, This Morning viewers were a bit baffled as to why she had to appear on the show in her wedding outfit. @Boppity_Boo34 tweeted: "Why’s she wearing her wedding dress for an interview #ThisMorning."
@suzysasha echoed: "#ThisMorning Why are they still all dressed for the wedding??" @JenJenivive wrote: "But why is she in her wedding dress #thismorning." @I_knew_Bob commented: "#thismorning All the best to her but she looks a bit foolish wearing her wedding dress though IMHO." @Joshtwhee1er shared: "Fair play to that young woman for carrying on with her wedding. But to make her sit there in her wedding dress? Cruelty. #thismorning."
At the start of the interview, Holly said to Kayley: "I saw this story in the paper and I just thought, 'what a woman'. Well done, what strength that must have taken just to go ahead and carry on doing this so applause for you."
Talking about the moment she knew she was jilted, Kayley said: "First of all, when I first heard it I checked if he was okay because that was my first panic. And then when they said he was safe, first of all I was a bit like, 'okay this is what he normally does when he wants a moment to himself to think and have a moment to breathe.'"
"So I actually wasn't panicking at first, I asked the girls to carry on, let's keep it going," Kayley continued as she became tearful. So I asked his dad, 'can you just check on him?'" she then said as she broke down and apologised.
Phillip was quick to pass her the tissues kept in a box on the table in front of them, Holly told her: "You are doing so well, can I just say. I think there are many people that wouldn't even be able to put one foot in front of the other, okay, so you are doing so well. You're stronger than all of us."
But things got back on track as Holly asked her to talk about her first dance with her dad and the other elements thrown into the unconventional day. "The fact that everybody stayed meant more to me than anything else and I just wanted to kind of celebrate that," Kayley said.
"Celebrate my girls because I am a woman's girl and I always will be, and it was a day about women supporting women and getting us through the tough times because they've been there and honestly I couldn't thank them enough."
At the end of the show, Phillip surprised Kayley by telling her tha Hays Travel were giving her £1,000 to spend on a 'honeymoon' while This Morning doubled the money meaning she had £2,000 to jet off wherever she wanted.
Kayley again became emotional and Holly jumped to bring Kayley in for a hug before telling her: "I think you need that. Well done."
