ITV This Morning under fire as viewers spot problem with cooking segment

This Morning came under fire after a cookery segment on today's show.

Wednesday's edition of ITV's flagship daytime programme was fronted by Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes.

The Saturdays singer has replaced regular host Holly Willoughby for two weeks while she takes some time away to film a new show.

On today's programme, the presenters covered a range of topics including an interview with actor Jason Isaacs ahead of his new drama Mass.

The cookery section on the latest programme was presented by Clodagh McKenna, who was preparing cheese fondue for Phil and Rochelle to enjoy.

However, the popular Irish chef did not appear in her traditional place in the studio as she was broadcasting from the top of a mountain in the Swiss Alps.

Clodagh revealed she is currently filming a travel programme in the region and said she had to conquer her fear of heights to take four different ski lifts to get to the highest point of Verbier.

However, This Morning viewers blasted the segment as "hypocritical" as the show recently pledged to reduce its carbon footprint.

Sabine said: "Clodagh is in the Alps „cooking“ a Swiss Fondue… are you serious??? @ITV What about the carbon footprint?"

Garry added: "They sent Clodagh to the Alps to cook, how stupid."

Charlie posted: "More hypocrisy from #ThisMorning - sending a chef across the continent for a cookery item, despite pledging to cut their carbon footprint."

Dayjur tweeted : "What happened to #ThisMorning lecturing us about saving the planet when they're flying people here, there and everywhere around the world for a few minutes piece to camera?"

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub
