ITV This Morning's Phillip Schofield replaced by The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett

Phillip Schofield has been replaced by Joel Dommett on This Morning for a duration of this week.

He will replace the presenter after his decision to take time off from the ITV show amid his brother's sex abuse trial.

Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond presented the programme on Monday and Tuesday. And now The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett is standing in for him on Wednesday and Thursday.

Taking to social media, ITV shared: "Join @hollywills and guest presenter @joeldommett, this Wednesday and Thursday on #ThisMorning! See you at 10am on ITV1, STV and @ITVX!"

Joel is a familiar face to ITV viewers, having presented all series of The Masked Singer and its spin off, The Masked Dancer. He is used to standing next to celebrities in Panda, Jacket Potato, Otter and Knitting costumes but today he presents alongside Holly reports the Mirror.

Fans are delighted by Joel's appointment for a brief stint on the ITV daytime show.

"What a random choice but I actually like it," one wrote, whilst a second added: "Love Joel, looking forward to seeing him. Have to say though, I love all the presenters on the show. They don't deserve all the hate they get. #BeKindAlways."

Earlier in the week, Alison was drafted in to replace Phillip, with fans no doubt thrilled at the thought of seeing more of the former Big Brother star on their screens.

"On Monday's This Morning, Shirley Ballas will be here as she reveals why her latest project will be more competitive than Strictly," Alison said on Friday, as Dermot added: "David Domoney has all you need to know about getting your garden ready for Spring."

Alison then chimed in to say: "Guess what, I'm going to be hosting. Monday, 10 o'clock, see you there!" and she stood in alongside Holly on Monday and Tuesday.

Phillip won't appear on TV screens hosting This Morning as the trial of his brother takes place at Exeter Crown Court. Tim Schofield is charged with 11 counts of interfering with a child.
