Phillip Schofield has broken his silence after he was cut off at the end of today's episode of This Morning.
The broadcaster fronted Thursday's edition of ITV's flagship daytime programme alongside Holly Willoughby. The programme was presented from the show's forest and was inspired by the summer festival season.
Phil admitted it felt "surreal" to be broadcasting the light-hearted episode on such a seismic day in British politics as Boris Johnson announced he was resigning as Conservative Party leader. ITV's schedule was hit this morning by the news the Prime Minister was going to stand down as Lorraine was suddenly taken off air in the wake of the announcement.

However, the This Morning Forestival special still aired in its regular slot. Holly and Phil warned the show could be taken off at any point.
The broadcasters almost managed to get through the whole show, but Phil was cut off mid sentence as he tried to close the episode. ITV cut to Downing Street as the Prime Minister made his announcement.
Phil has since taken to Instagram to address the resignation speech and shared a short clip of the team watching the announcement. He captioned the footage: "If you go down to the woods today, there won't be a big surprise."
The broadcaster shared a second clip of him walking through the forest. He added: "Gorgeous walk back"
