ITV This Morning's Matthew Wright describes atmosphere on set amid Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby 'feud'

This Morning regular Matthew Wright has appeared to dismiss claims of a "feud" between Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. It comes following reports that the presenting duo, who have hosted the ITV show together for 14 years, are "barely speaking" off-screen.

Holly, 42, and Phil, 61, have not addressed the swirling rumours on television, instead putting on a united front throughout the week to broadcast This Morning together. However, last week Phil hailed his co-host his "rock" in an unusual statement to The Sun.

He told the publication: "As I have said before, Holly is my rock. We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone. Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her. The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us."

Now journalist Matthew, who appeared on the daytime programme on Tuesday, May 16 as a guest alongside LBC presenter Nick Ferrari, has had his say on whether there's any "tension" behind the scenes.

Taking to Twitter, he waded into the rumours as he slammed suggestions that things on-set are anything but rosy and said there was a "terrific atmosphere" on set during his appearance.

"Not sure I believe half of what you read about Holly and Phil," he told his 88.7K followers. He added: "Terrific atmosphere on set today as per."

It comes after Holly exited the This Morning set early on Wednesday, May 18, leaving Phil to present the show solo. The mum-of-three swiftly left jut before midday to head to Buckingham Palace with The Prince's Trust, a charity for which she is an ambassador.

As the pair opened the show, Holly said: "I put my posh frock on today because later on this afternoon I'm heading to Buckingham Palace and there the King will be and we get to introduce the award winners to the King so he can say well done. Which is all quite exciting."

"So you're off midday-ish and I'm holding the fort," Phil asked. "Yes, you are thank you very much," Holly replied.

Later, as midday arrived, Phil said: "It's time, you've been summoned." Holly replied: "I'm going, be good, don't be naughty," as the pair shared a hug and a kiss on the cheek. You can read more on this here. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
