ITV This Morning's Holly and Phil mark huge milestone live on show

This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield marked a huge milestone on Monday's show. The co-presenters and close friends were able to hug on screen for the first time in nearly two years.

But they also admitted, they may have had a "few cuddles" off-set already. It came as the duo pointed out more people may be opting for long haul holidays this year.

"With the global travel restrictions coming to an end, it’s set to be the year of the long haul holiday," Holly pointed out on Monday's show. While Phil added: “Wow, that’s a nice thought isn’t it? Also the screens came down on Dancing on Ice last night and we are the closest we’ve been on the telly."

But Holly was quick to point out that was only on the telly. She said: "We’ve had a few cuddles off-set." While Phil admitted they "might have done".

But Holly explained it was the first time on screen they were actually "allowed" to do so. She told viewers it felt "nice" to be able to hug her co-presenter.

Taking to Twitter, one fan of the show said it was not a surprise to hear they had hugged off-set. "Well I’m shocked they have had hugs off screen (said no one ever!) Morning lovelies #ThisMorning," they said. "They did say first hug on camera… then admitted a couple off camera… which we all knew!! #ThisMorning," they added in another Tweet.
