ITV This Morning's Gino D'Acampo in hot water with viewers over 'husband' remark on International Women's Day

Gino D'Acampo was back on This Morning today but not just to cook up a storm in the kitchen.

Fans of the ITV daytime show may remember the Italian chef making his agony uncle debut on the show back in November last year and returned for another advice segment just a couple of weeks ago.

Well, on Tuesday's edition of This Morning Gino was back for another call-in segment on the show which was being overseen by the programme's hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

But before he sat down with the presenters in their studio, Gino was seen behind the scenes, causing chaos in the This Morning call centre where viewers will find themselves first if they choose to partake in call-ins before making it to air.

In the office backstage, Gino. who was surrounded by women, was being spoken to by Holly and Phil as he teased his upcoming phone-in. "People at home you can ask me anything you want," he told them.

"Today is apparently International Women's Day, so what I've realised in the office is that this lady here is looking for a husband," as he patted one of the female members of staff her on the shoulder.

He then pointed at another lady who was busy answering a call, saying: "You're looking for a husband," before asking another: "Are you looking for a husband? Yes."

He then walked over to another colleague, before pointing and commenting: "You wanted to have an affair, that's what's you said," as Holly and Phillip laughed in the studio.

Finishing off the teaser for his upcoming segment, the 45-year-old said: "It looks like down here in the office everyone is looking for a husband."

Gino's comments didn't go down well with some viewers (ITV)

But some This Morning viewers were left unimpressed by the comments.

"Gino on #ThisMorning 'joking' about how all women want is a husband there. On #IWD. I'm tired," @melhill_ tweeted.

@Empath_Action said: "@thismorning @Schofe @hollywills @Ginofantastico It's #InternationalWomensDay and Gino D'Acampo is asking female staff, on your show, if they are looking for a husband. I know it's meant to be 'funny', but really..."

@ScribensCheryl commented: "Gino mate, don't know how to break it to you, but not every woman is looking for a husband. #ThisMorning."

During the phone-in, Gino left one caller mortified after she called in to ask the chef on ways to spice up her marriage.

The caller explained: "While I’m very, very happily married, sometimes, Gino, you just need that little bit of extra spice, and I thought with you being an international love god and a world famous chef, I cannot wait to hear your fabulous tips."

He appeared again later to give his advice (ITV)

The chef replied: “You want a bit of spice in your life? I’m going to tread very carefully here. I think what you should do if you want to put spice in your marriage, is to try something that you haven’t tried before.”

He then continued: “So, if you want to break down some boundaries within the limit of what you think your husband will accept - an example: try to have a threesome.”

As the hosts gasped and burst out laughing at Gino's frank advice, the viewer, known as Julia, replied: "Don’t be so ridiculous," to which Holly then quipped: "In one moment you’ve said something we’ve all been wanting to say for years."

The caller then said: "I would rather have a kidney out with no anaesthetic than have a threesome, thank you very much."
