ITV This Morning's Gino D’Acampo confirms he is leaving the show

Gino D’Acampo has revealed that he is leaving ITV's popular This Morning show. He appeared on the programme today, Tuesday, March 29, declaring that "I am a little bit sad today". Hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby introduced the TV chef, saying "Back for some more chaos in the kitchen..." but then Gino dropped the bombshell.

The 45 year old Italian chef, nervously wandered about the studio, then said: “I was just walking around because I am a little bit sad today... because I am going to go to Italy very soon, in the next couple of days, so this is my last This Morning." Looking genuinely surprised, Holly and Phillip both asked: "Until when?" Gino came back, "until probably autumn or winter.” To which, Schofield quickly added: “Oh, thank god for that”.

Gino then turned to the camera, changing the subject, he said: "Do not panic, because I have really got so many beautiful things for you guys.” and went to to explain which dish he would be making on the show.

But Gino did go one to explain exactly why he was taking time off from the show. He said: "I've been having six months off for the last eight to ten years. I am a great believer that you need to have balance in life.

"If I work for six months, then I want to have a holiday for six months because my life cannot always be about work." He continued: "I admire and respect people who have a lot of time for work. I have a lot of friends that do that but it's not me. I think there are so many beautiful things in life that you can do that have got nothing to do with work and if one has the chance, then you should take it."
