Alison Hammond has praised the work of the NHS while presenting ITV’s This Morning. The 48-year-old was talking alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary, Carol Vorderman and Nick Ferrari about a new survey that reveals one in three NHS staff would be unhappy to have their relatives treated in the hospital they work.
Alison also revealed that her niece is currently in hospital receiving treatment. She said: “I definitely need to say, my niece is in hospital right now. I've been going back and forward.
“She's doing really well, by the way, but the NHS staff have been absolutely amazing. So, yes this story is worrying, but she has been treated amazingly.”

Giving her own thoughts on the survey results, Carol said: “I think they’re very tired. These people have been through a trauma and then we’ve had the strikes. They’re exhausted. They’re on their knees.
“They were saying that for a lot of them, the system and the tiredness is preventing them from doing their job properly. So the question is, can we trust the NHS to give decent care? I think it’s for those people to give the answer rather than me.
“They’re worn down. The system is worn down. That’s from successive governments but particularly in a pandemic. I don’t really know where we go from here, to be honest.”
LBC host Nick then shared his own experiences with the NHS and, in particular, how they helped his partner’s son following a rugby injury. “I’m telling you now it was absolutely exemplary. They were absolutely fantastic. I saw them. They are working a hell of a shift. What I saw you could not improve.”
The survey showed that 62.9% of 636,000 workers polled said that if a friend or relative needed treatment, they would be happy with the standard provided. 636,348 NHS employees in England responded to the NHS Staff Survey 2022, carried out between September and December last year.
