ITV This Morning presenter, Alison Hammond, has bagged a 'glitz and glam' role that she says will "celebrate the biggest night for cinema". The 47-year-old morning show favourite will host this year’s British Academy Film Awards.
Joining Withnail & I star Richard E Grant, the pair will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Stephen Fry, Rebel Wilson and Graham Norton to lead proceedings at the ceremony on February 19. Wales Online reported that Alison had said about the star-studded hosting role: “I'm so excited to be hosting at this year's EE BAFTA Film Awards with THE Richard E Grant. We're going to have a lot of fun bringing the glitz and glam of backstage to everyone watching at home around the world."
She added: "From hanging out with the stars to celebrating the biggest night for cinema, and joining the discussions with film fans, get ready for good vibes only!" The pair will be leading the interviews as the winners and presenters exit the stage and hang out backstage.

Richard, who is an Academy Award winner, added: "I feel hugely privileged to be hosting the EE BAFTAs for the first time and the opportunity to celebrate the very best of the extraordinary range of this year’s films.” In another first, this year’s ceremony will culminate in a live broadcast, which will reveal the final four category winners.
The aim of the innovation is to enable audiences at home to experience the nominee and winners’ reactions in real-time. Alison and Richard will be joined by Ali Plumb and Vick Hope, who will be co-hosts of the red carpet show.
Ali said: “I cannot wait for this year’s EE BAFTA Film Awards and to celebrate an outstanding year of films and am thrilled to be hosting the red carpet show alongside my friend Vick Hope where we will interview the many brilliant nominees.” Vick said: “I am honoured to be at this year’s EE BAFTA Film Awards and working with the brilliant Ali Plumb on the biggest red carpet of the film calendar. I know we’re going to have a lot of fun bringing the glamour and anticipation of the arriving nominees to everyone watching around the world.”
The hosting choice went down well with social media users. One wrote: "Very good pairing, looking forward to this." Another added "Great hosts. Such lovely warm people."
A third commented on the main hosts, saying “two legends”. Another agreed: "@AlisonHammond is a ray of sunshine and is a brilliantly warm, funny soul. I love her and I'm sure the legend that is @RichardEGrant will adore her. They both tick all the boxes. A genius pairing."
This year’s British Academy Film Awards airs on BBC One on February 19, starting at 7pm.
