Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary have been told off by This Morning viewers after they picked up on their 'rude' behaviour towards one of the show's guests. The angry comments also came as the duo were temporarily 'replaced' for hosting duties on the ITV daytime show as fans demanded: "Give her a job!"
Alison, 48, and Dermot, 49, returned to the helm of the show on Friday (March 31) ahead of their two-week stint on the programme over Easter where they'll step in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as they take their annual April break.
On the last edition of This Morning of the week, the pair welcomed 'Coupon Queen' Holly Smith back onto the show who was on hand to show viewers how they save money this week -with huge savings on their supermarket shop. They also showed how to get free ice cream. However, viewers were unimpressed as Alison and Dermot seemed to interrupt their guest.
As Holly told them about some cheap garden furniture they could buy from Aldi, Dermot sat in one of the chairs and exclaimed: "Oh, that’s nice." Alison then asked: "Is it comfy?" as Holly continued to speak in the background as she attempted to carry on with her weekly segment.
But those tuning in at home were unimpressed. @ClaireMBear tweeted: "Alison being quite rude there, she ignoring the lady and talking to Dermot #ThisMorning." @mo4g_777 pleaded: "#ThisMorning stop talking at the same time!!!!!!!!" While another wrote: "So rude these two interrupting coupon lady ffs me me me!"
However, This Morning viewers think they have found the show's latest guest host after Hannah Waddingham made an appearance in the studio. The Ted Lesso actress was live on the show to chat to Alison and Dermot about her upcoming role in the Eurovision Song Contest after she was announced as a co-host last month.
The 48-year-old also spoke about her role as Rebecca Welton in the hit AppleTV+ show Ted Lasso, sharing how she spent 25 years acting on stage before the comedy series changed her life. However, Alison and Dermot were more interested in testing out Hannah's hosting skills.
The pair got the star her very own earpiece and she was instructed to stand away from the sofa as the opening credits re-rolled with her name under the 'This Morning' badge. As she introduced the 'show' and what was to come, fans flocked to social media to suggest she should be a permanent fixture, after also impressing Alison and Dermot.
Some even suggested she should replace Holly or Phillip @teenamassam tweeted: "Hannah Waddingham is fab, be brilliant if she got a regular spot on This Morning…#ThisMorning." @SannyEmmy said: "Wow, she smashed it. Give her the job already. #ThisMorning." @DebsGlynm posted: "Replacement for Phil right there #ThisMorning."
@irene74xx shared: "I hope Hannah replaces Holly #ThisMorning." @ShakyWoon typed: "Bravo to Hannah Waddingham presenting a segment on #ThisMorning! Just give her the job!" @andreab45138912 added: "Can we have Hannah Waddingham to present #ThisMorning please."
