ITV This Morning receives complaints over 'tasteless' show theme from viewers

This Morning has been hit with complaints over starting their latest episode with the US national anthem. ITV decided to celebrate Independence Day as Holly Willoughby and Craig Doyle hosted on Tuesday, July 4.

But Twitter users were less than impressed, Birmingham Live reports. Scott Davies Holt said: "#ThisMorning you do realise we are not America right? We dont celebrate 4th July." Victoria said: "Why are we celebrating Independence Day we’re not in America #ThisMorning."

Nick said: "Make it make sense." Matt Foster said: "because Americans live here as well they're celebrating it so some Brits think they'll be more inclusive if they join in.."

"And we are 'celebrating' 4th of July in the UK because???" Dee Cee asked. Tina asked: " #thismorning How come they can celebrate the yanks but can’t do the same for St George’s day?"

1921 said: "Celebrating the day Britain lost the American colonies. Thousands of British men died fighting to save the colonies and you put on a display of cheerleaders and a remixed Miley Cyrus song? Tasteless."

Cheryl said: "Haven't had much sleep, so excuse my stupidity, but have we all moved to America? #ThisMorning." Fluffadelic said: "Yes yes, hasn’t America done well for itself… #ThisMorning." Another said it was "pathetic."

Lynsey said: " #ThisMorning why the **** are you celebrating independence day??? We're not in America, we're in the UK! We'll be doing high school proms, black Friday and thanksgiving next.... oh that's right we already do!." Elsewhere, Phil Vickery was in the studio for the second episode of the week.

The show said: "Vickery’s getting in the red, white and blue spirit. An Apple American Pie is the staple of any 4th of July spread, and today Phil Vickery’s showing you how to make your very own." This Morning continues to air on ITV and ITVX.
