ITV This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield walks off set after Holly autocue slip

ITV1's This Morning descended into chaos during the episode that aired on Wednesday, March 22, resulting in presenter Phillip Schofield jokingly walking off set. The daytime television host hit out at those operating the studio cameras as they showed viewers at home the autocue.

The moment came after Phil's co-host Holly Willoughby stated she and Phil would be "walking away" during a segment on Easter Eggs. The 42-year-old said: "Let's hope we leave the room to enjoy Steve's Easter treats."

Realising her mistake, Holly queried: "Wait did I read that right, let's hope we leave the room?" Correcting his co-host, Phil wrote: "Let's hope we leave room." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.

"Oh we leave room not leave the room," Holly said, before adding: "I get you." The cameras then panned to the autocue before Phil shouted: "Don't transmit the autocue, if you just show the autocue there's no need for us."

Throwing his hands up in the air, a shocked Phil said to viewers at home: "We'll just run the autocue and you can read it at home. Read it for yourselves, bye-bye."

Phil then pretended to storm off set before Holly began giggling. Turning to chef Paul Ainsworth she said: "I'll make sure I leave room."

This Morning continues at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
