Today's episode of This Morning was interrupted for a breaking news announcement.
Wednesday's edition of ITV's flagship daytime programme was hosted by Dermot O'Leary and Josie Gibson. The presenters are standing in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as the regualr hosts enjoy a break during the February half term.
The two hosted another jam-packed episode, which included an interview with Eugene Levy and a performance from the new Great British Bake Off themed musical, Slap it Like That. However, Dermot revealed the show was going to be interrupted for a broadcast from Bute House in Edinburgh as Nicola Sturgeon resigned as Scottish First Minister.

Dermot and Josie were joined by ITV's political correspondent, Harry Horton, who branded the update as "surprising". While Ms Sturgeon formally announced she is stepping down as Scotland's first minister and leader of the Scottish National Party, her departure will not be immediate, allowing time for a successor to be elected.
In a statement today she said: "Being First Minister of Scotland is the very best in the world, it is a privilege beyond measure and has sustained and inspired me in good times and through the toughest hours of the toughest days.
"I am proud to stand here as the first ever female incumbent of this office and am very proud of what has been achieved during my time in Bute House. However, since my very first moments in the job, I have believed that part of serving well would be to know when the time is right to make way for someone else - and to have the courage to know when that time is, even if for many in the country - and my party - it might feel too soon."
She added: "In my head and in my heart I know that time is now."
