ITV This Morning confirms Easter shake-up as fan favourites return as hosts alongside Alison and Dermot

This Morning has had to go through a few presenter shake-ups in the first part of the year due to both Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield being struck down with Covid as well as Holly spending a few weeks filming a new show.

But the main hosting duo are off again for the next couple of weeks on their annual Easter break. It had already been confirmed by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary themselves that they'll be stepping in next week.

But ITV has now revealed that during the second week of Holly and Phil's absence, two This Morning fan favourites will be returning to the role.

Josie Gibson and Vernon Kay will make a return to host the ITV daytime programme as part of the show's Easter line up after they teamed up to present the programme just before Christmas.

So, Alison and Dermot will front the daytime favourite all week from Monday, April 4, while Josie and Vernon will host during the following week, April 11 to April 14. The programme's Friday hosts will then cover the extra bank holiday shows on Friday, April 15, and Monday, April 18 before Phillip and Holly return on Tuesday, April 19.

On making a return to the infamous sofa and co-hosting with Vernon again, Josie said: "I still cannot believe I’ve even hosted This Morning! I feel very privileged, very honoured, and just can’t believe it’s happening to me.

"I’m very thankful to all the This Morning team for letting me come back and host. As for Vernon, when they said I’d be hosting with Vernon again I screamed with excitement! What a legend."

Vernon also added: "I had the most brilliant time hosting This Morning with Josie before Christmas and I’m chuffed to be asked back again. The show is such an institution for many and I’m really looking forward to seeing the team and interacting with the viewers again over Easter."

Josie has become a firm favourite with viewers and they're often demanding she gets a more regular, if not permanent, slot as the main host. She filled in last month alongside Phillip when Holly was off with Covid and she even co-hosted alongside Holly when Phillip was also struck down with the virus earlier in the year and alongside her best pal Alison and her usual co-star Dermot.

This means that she has now hosted with each one of the main This Morning hsots so the show cheekily asked her about how each presenter differs. "So Phil, he is really funny," she said. "And we often see ‘presenter Phil’ and sometimes I wish people would see more of ‘the Phil’ because he’s bloody hilarious! He’s also very gentle and he’s really caring. When I had an ear infection, he was always checking up on me asking if I was alright - he’s just lovely.

"I love Dermot, too. He was also so caring and thoughtful, and really is one of the nicest blokes in the business. Alison, well, she’s just my mate ain’t she? I just love her to bits. She brings the party, she's the energy, she’s the scream and she just lights up a room as far as I’m concerned. And then Holly Willoughby, oh my goodness, what an amazing broadcaster she is. She is just effortless. I was in awe of her. But she is a real girls’ girl - and so is Alison - and they’ve both helped me.

"We all encourage and push each other to do well. But I love Holly, she’s got a very good energy… and funnily enough, me, Holly and Alison are all Aquarius women!"

Former Big Brother winner Josie was also asked about how it feels to hosting the prgoramme after spending years appearing on This Morning as a roving reporter, presenting various competition segments and more.

"It feels very surreal! I still cannot believe I’ve even hosted This Morning. I didn’t believe in a million years that they would ask me to ever sit on that seat," she said. "I still can’t get over it. I feel very privileged, very honoured, and just can’t believe it’s happening to me! I’m very thankful to all the This Morning team for letting me come back and host.

"As for Vernon, put it this way, when they said I’d be hosting with Vernon again, I screamed with excitement! What a legend. What a TV legend… I feel like pinching myself, it’s like a dream."
