ITV This Morning cancelled as disgusted viewers slam 'ridiculous' replacement

This Morning viewers were shocked as the show was cancelled today.

ITV's flagship daytime programme regularly airs on weekdays at 10am. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield host the show from Monday - Thursday before Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary take over on Friday.

However, fans tuning in expecting their daily dose of This Morning were surprised to find the show was not being broadcast today. The 2022 World Cup is now underway and ITV instead broadcast Argentina vs Saudi Arabia.

Phil confirmed the show would be off air until Friday at the end of yesterday's episode. He said: "The World Cup is on ITV for the next few mornings so Alison and Dermot will be with you on Friday. We will see you next week."

Fans on Twitter were disappointed with the schedule shake-up.

Sarah Louise said: "Not everyone is interested in the World Cup, putting it on at 9am and taking morning TV off is disgusting, stick it on ITV2. Bet your ratings are through the roof with this match....not!!"

Dannii added: "What am I going to do without my #ThisMorning people"

Sue posted: "Why don't they put the football on another channel there's plenty of them this is ridiculous"

Craig commented: "Not #ThisMorning being cancelled to show the Saudi Arabia game"
