"As a child, I remember watching Beauty and the Beast with my family over and over and immediately falling in love with the music and characters. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined joining this fairytale world.

"To everyone that helped make this happen, I am forever grateful. Thank you to Disney+, my CAA squad - Dan, Joella, and Tracy - Shari, and my management family.

"Lately I just feel like all my dreams are coming true! Life is feeling like a Disney movie!"

According to Variety, the news was announced on Monday during Disney Branded Television's session at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour.

Ora, who is currently preparing for the final of The Masked Singer which takes place this weekend, will star in the series as 'a fugitive with surprising abilities who carries with her a secret that could potentially affect an entire kingdom' alongside Luke Evans, Fra Free, Briana Middleton, Josh Gad and Jelani Alladin.

The show, which is yet to have a confirmed title, takes place years before the events of "Beauty and the Beast", and follows antagonists Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou's sister, Tilly, after a shocking revelation from her past surfaces.

Although Ora is mostly known for her singing and judging careers, the star has a number of film credits, including Fifty Shades of Grey, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, and Southpaw.

Production for the new series is set to begin in spring 2022.
