ITV The Hunt For Raoul Moat: Cast, plot, locations and how to watch

From the producers behind The Pembrokeshire Murders, Line of Duty and Vigil, ITV's latest true crime drama, The Hunt For Raoul Moat launches this April and focuses on the human tragedies that lay behind Britain’s biggest manhunt, told through the eyes of those who sought to bring a violent killer to justice.

The manhunt, which happened back in 2010, saw Moat go on the run for more than a week after shooting three people in 24 hours. Moat shot his ex-partner Samantha Stobbart and her new boyfriend Christopher Brown before shooting PC David Rathband and heading on the run.

The Hunt for Raoul Moat is produced by World Productions, acclaimed producers of Anne, Line of Duty, The PembrokeshireMurders and Vigil, in association with MultiStory Media and is written by novelist and screenwriter Kevin Sampson. When is the Hunt For Raoul Moat on TV?

The drama starts on Sunday, April 16 at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.

The next two episodes will air on subsequent evenings, Monday, April 17 and Tuesday, April 18 at the same time.

Where was it filmed?

For this production the team stayed clear of the real locations. The riverside scenes, where the manhunt concludes, were filmed in Yorkshire. There's a scene on the Tyne Bridge and lots of the action was also filmed around Bradford.

Who's in the cast of the series?

Lee Ingleby as Neil Adamson (ITV)

Inspector George Gently, The A Word and Innocent star Lee Ingleby and Jamestown and The Village's Matt Stokoe lead the story as Neil Adamson, a senior Northumbria Police Officer leading the race against time to apprehend Moat, and Moat himself, respectively.

What is the series about?

The drama, which is set in 2010, focuses on the innocent victims of Moat’s crimes - Christopher Brown, Samantha Stobbart and PC David Rathband; the police officers who put themselves in the firing line in their quest to apprehend Moat; and a local journalist who sought to tell Moat’s real story in a landscapeof sensationalist reporting and social media provocation.

The Hunt for Raoul Moat begins with Moat’s ex-partner Samantha piecing her life back together following Moat’s imprisonment for an assault. He is then released from HMP Durham after serving a four-month sentence. Sam has a new boyfriend, Chris, and she is terrified of Moat’sreturn.Despite making serious threats against Sam from inside prison, the former Newcastle doorman is hellbent on rekindling their relationship. Whenhe realises that isn’t going to happen, Moat equips himself with a shotgun to confront Sam and her new partner.
