ITV The Chase viewers poke fun at Lanarkshire contestant's unusual hobby

Viewers watching The Chase on Wednesday evening took to Twitter to make jokes after one contestant from Lanarkshire revealed her unusual hobby.

Supermarket auditor Cat was the first member of the team to take on the chaser, but was first asked by host Bradley Walsh to tell him about herself.

She revealed that she enjoys spirographing in her spare time, to which a confused Walsh responded: "What?"

A spirograph is a drawing toy that allows the user to draw patterns of cyclical curved lines.

"If you remember, back in the eighties they were quite big," Cat continued — at which point the host interjected that he remembered the retro devices.

She added: "I do big ones, like up to about A2 size. So I enjoy doing that."

Cat ultimately took back £9,000 to the team after a tense confrontation with chaser Paul Sinha, but many people watching at home were more interested in her choice of hobby.

One joked about the old-fashioned nature of the toy, writing: "If she wins some money she could buy a Tiny Tears doll and Petite 990 typewriter to go with her Spirograph".

"Spirograph! B****r me," a second exclaimed.

"She mixes in spirograph circles...", a third tweeted alongside a smirking emoji.

Meanwhile, one Twitter user took issue with Walsh not initially being familiar with the device, commenting: "How does he not know what Spirograph is!! #TheChase"
