ITV The Chase viewers claim contestant 'hustled' chaser Mark Labbett to bag £20,000

The Chase viewers think they've figured out one contestant plan to bag more cash from the chaser.

The hit ITV quiz show was back on air on Tuesday night and hosts Bradley Walsh welcomed four new players into the studio who were having to beat the chaser and walk about with some cash.

During the latest edition of the show (March 15), Simon, Eraj, Amanda and Drina all lined-up for some quizzing action and went up against Mark 'the Beast' Labbett.

Simon was first up to face Bradley's questions in the cash builder round but he only managed to wrack up one right answer, leaving him with just £1,000 to play for.

Heading over the face The Beast, Simon was given two further offers. He could take the low amount of just £100, or he could go high for £20,000 and get the team's jackpot off to a hefty start.

Despite his unexciting cash builder round, Simon opted for the high offer, leaving viewers stunned but Bradley reassured Simon: "A grand. That's no reflection on your ability."

He then added: "You're a better player than that," which initially left fans of the show scratching their heads but they soon changed their mind when Simon bagged £20,000 for his team.

But The Chase fans were quickly commenting on social media, suggesting it was all part of the contestant's plan and that he 'hustled' Mark.

"He definitely played the chaser to get a higher offer #thechase," @teri_k commented.

"What a player and he’s definitely surprised and shut up a lot of people here on Twitter! Well done Simon! #Thechase," @TheAifaZi added.

And his risk certainly paid off as Simon, Amanda and Drina managed to walk away with a share of £29,000 after a nail-biting final chase which saw Mark lose with just a second to spare.
