ITV The Chase's Jenny Ryan furious after 'shocking' error causes £12,000 loss

The Chase's Jenny Ryan suffered a "shocking" defeat today after a simple error.

Ken, Sara and Edwin made it through to the final, with £12,000 in the cash pot.

During the last round, the contestants managed to answer 13 questions correctly and were given three bonus points.

This meant, Jenny had to defeat them by scoring more than 16 - a fairly easy feat for The Chaser.

Sara was on top form (ITV)

And it looked like she would squeeze the players out of £12k as she stormed through her questions.

After making a mistake, Jenny managed to claw another two questions back and with nine seconds to go, she only needed one correct answer to defeat the contestants.

Bradley asked: "How many people in total make up two quintets?"

Jenny panicked and said: "Eight", before grimacing and realising she'd given the wrong answer.

She smacked her hands together as Bradley shouted "stop the clock"'.

The team answered with the correct answer of 10, pushing The Vixen another step back.

With only five seconds left on the clock, Bradley didn't even finish his question before the players were announced winners.

Jenny said: "I gave that away by going on the 'qu' of quintet and I thought you were going to say 'quartet'.

"Ugh, I'm furious with myself, they earned the money with those pushbacks though."

Viewers couldn't believe The Vixen's mistake, with many taking to Twitter.

Penny said: "How did Jenny get that wrong?! Oh my. She grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory."

Andy tweeted: "Shocking effort by the chaser."

Mace wrote: "The Vixen was let down by her maths!"

And Heather said: "Gutting loss for Jenny."
