ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh mortified by player's 'pathetic' £43,000 mistake

Bradley Walsh was mortified by a player's £43,000 mistake on The Chase.

The 62-year-old host returned to front Wednesday's edition of the ITV game show. Lynne, Ken, Dave and Hollie were testing their wits against Anne Hegerty in a bid to win a huge cash prize.

Lynne was up in seat one and the mental health nurse put in a spectacular performance to build up £10,000 in a superb cash-builder. The 49-year-old mental health nurse continued the display to navigate her way into the Final Chase.

The Governess fought back and proceeded to eliminate Ken before it was Dave's turn to face The Chaser. The antique's market assistant put in an impressive cash-builder as he earned £4,000.

Anne offered him the option to take one step closer to the Chaser for £44,000 or take one step closer to the final round for £1,000. Dave had encouraged previous contestants to take the lower offer and Bradley was in disbelief when he followed suit.

Dave ended up regretting his decision when he got a batch of nice questions that meant he swiftly proceeded to the final Chase to take the team's total to £11,000. A confused Bradley said: "You should have at least £14,000 and should be playing for £54,000."

The Governess was similarly baffled as she said: "£1,000. That was a bit pathetic, wasn't it?"

Anne proceeded to eliminate Hollie and the two remaining players built up 15 steps in the Final Chase. The players left empty-handed after The Chaser caught them with 23 seconds remaining.
