ITV The Chase's Anne Hegerty 'nightmare' as Bradley Walsh in disbelief

The Chase viewers were in disbelief after Anne Hegerty's nightmare on today's edition.

The Governess took on four new quizzers on Monday's episode of the popular ITV game show. Bradley Walsh welcomed Cally, Robin, Sam and Julie as they aimed to win a huge cash prize.

The team started off in great form as Cally booked her spot in the Final Chase with £8,000. The impressive display as she was joined by Robin, who added an extra £4,000.

However, Anne fought back and proceeded to eliminate the remaining two players. The team were competing for a £12,000 and thought they'd lost it when they built up a low target of 12 steps in the Final Chase.

However, they were taken aback as Anne failed to catch them and only build up 5 steps. Bradley claimed he had never seen anything like that in his time on the show and asked the Governess what happened.

She shot back: "You kept asking me things I didn't know." Viewers following the show on Twitter were shocked after the surprise ending.

FL said: "Is this the first time on #thechase that a chaser has lost with as little as 12?! I can't believe it was Anne of all people too!"

Mofya posted: "Very bad day at the office for Anne, couldn’t believe she didn’t catch 12 questions but so happy for them, they knew their stuf"

Hilary commented: "Oh dear oh dear, not your day @anne_hegerty"

Mark tweeted: "Wow! Absolute shocker from Anne. 10 attempts to pushback team took 7! As Anne said her worst defeat ever! Well done team!!"

Dan added: "What on earth happened"

Malcolm said: "Nightmare for the Governess there"
