ITV The Chase player praised by Anne Hegerty for 'shutting up'

Chaser Anne Hegerty praised a player for "shutting up" on tonight's episode.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants looking to test their wits to the ITV quiz show. Josh, Conal, Marjorie and Sarah-Jane went head to head with Chaser Anne Hegerty with hopes of going home slightly richer.

The first two players, 20-year-old Josh and pharmacist Conal played good cashbuilder rounds as they each secured six correct answers. However, both were sent home empty handed after being caught by The Governess.

That left the two ladies to take on the chaser. Marjorie, a 68-year-old administrator managed to answer four questions correctly in the cashbuilder round. She went on to accept a middle offer of £4,000 and made her way to the final round.

Final player, 32-year-old librarian Sarah-Jane, followed suit but added slightly more funds to the prize pot. She also went for a middle offer and added £6,000 to the total meaning that the women had £10,000 in total to play for in the final chase.

They had a two question head start and went on to answer a further 16 questions correctly in the final round. However, it was Sarah-Jane who received all the praise after answering the majority of the questions on her own.

Anne said: "Sarah-Jane was a machine. Marjorie had the sense to shut up until she knew something." Fans agreed as they took to Twitter.

One user said: "#TheChase Sarah-Jane doing well on her todd". Another user said: "Wow Sarah Jane. Go girl #thechase."

Morgan said: "Great stuff Sarah-Jane! Hope they win now. #thechase." Meanwhile, Janet said: "Sarah Jane on her own #thechase."

Unfortunately, with just 18 questions to answer, The Governess smashed her way through the round and beat the team with 19 seconds remaining. The players went home with nothing.
